Why we believe in Sponsorship

Your sponsorship gives a child the tools he or she needs to succeed in life. This allows a student to create a better future for them self and for the generations to come. We invite you to watch the Legacy of Hope video

Send them a message and they’ll respond as soon as possible

Thank you for coming alongside the village of men and women dedication to the support of your student by being another positive influence in your student’s life. Here are some guidelines to consider as you reach out to your student today: It may be a couple months before your student receives his or her letter due to slow postal service. The same is applied for how long it takes for you to receive a letter from your student. We ask that you avoid any political, racial, religious, or financial conversations when communicating with your student. We ask that you avoid influencing your student’s life decisions. (i.e. – what school to choose or career path to take) Keep your student’s age and nationality in mind. It may be helpful to research holidays also celebrated in Kenya before speaking about them in your letter. All correspondence between you and your student will be reviewed by Maisha Project staff.

FAQ'S

What is child sponsorship?

Giving a Legacy of Hope by sponsoring a student is a wonderful way to help change the life of a student in need and bring hope to his or her entire community. Being a sponsor will give you the chance to build a new relationship with one special student who will know you by name as you correspond and share your lives with each other.

Why is sponsorship needed?

Orphans and vulnerable children all over the world suffer in silence. Born into poverty, these children and young adults live without access to education, medical care, adequate housing, clothing, appropriate food, or a chance for a better future. Maisha operates in the Nyanza Province of Kenya with the highest rates of HIV, malaria and poverty in the country which has left millions of children orphaned. Without education, the cycle of poverty and death continues. If not given the opportunity for education, girls are usually forced into marriage bearing children by age 13 and boys enter the labor force early. Education breaks this vicious cycle and enhances the quality of life for a child and their community.

Does my full donation go directly to my sponsored student?

A standard administrative and processing fee is deducted to ensure compliance with 501(c) (3) nonprofit regulations. We are committed to keeping costs minimal to provide more for the orphans and destitute children and young adults in need.
